Not only did he change the way films are made he also changed the paradigm of film making.  He proved that films made outside of Hollywood can be very successful.  He blazed the trail and inspired people like Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino, Peter Jackson, and Robert Rodriguez.  &lt;br&gt;
